Gord Downie

Gord Downie was a Canadian musicain, writer and activist. Downie in addition to creating solo works, was a song writer ans singer for The Tragically Hip, a Canadian rock band. One of his most influencal albums was Secret Path which retold a story of Chanie Wenjack's attempt at escape from his residentual school. Downie's album brings the listener into the point of view of Wenjack as he walks dowm the path trying to keep not only his physical health but also his mental well being in tact. Since the release of Secret Path it has been used countless times as a tool to enlight people about the impact of residentual schools inside and outside the classroom.
